Bio + CV
I’m Emile Blair Milgrim (she/her), a musician and teaching artist. I grew up in Miami in the 80s and 90s immersing myself in all music I could find, from classical to freestyle, and spent the early 00s in Portland, OR - area codes 305 and 503, respectively. In Portland I played drums in basement bands, started a record label, Other Electricities, and worked as an independent music promoter/publicist. In 2011 I returned to Miami, actively participating in the city’s music and art scenes, continuing to play drums in bands (no basements), growing Other Electricities, DJing, teaching, and developing collaborative programs/projects with my perpetual love of music and sound as the catalyst. Much of the work I create is inspired by South Florida’s landscape and the unique experiences I continually encounter and share within it. I’m currently an active member of Las Nubes, Mr. Entertainment and the Pookiesmackers, Archival Feedback, and MiamiBloco’s Bateria Saideira, and a volunteer with Miami Girls Rock Camp, which I co-founded in 2014.
